Kim Ewanovich Blog#15

Hello,

This weekend we played an away game vs Port De Bouc, when we played them at home we tied 24-24. The car ride was only about 1.5 hrs which was a nice change to the 7 or 8 hr away games that we usually have.

I had a little blast back to the past when i walked into the gym because it was then i remembered this was the same gym i tore my ACL in the year before. It shook me just for a second when i replayed what had happened in my head, but then i was back to game mode.

We were told before the game that their top scorer was no longer playing on their team, everybody was excited for that but i took a look around and remember that we were also missing 2 of our top scorers. This definitely showed with us loosing the game and the final score being 21-18.

At the beginning of the season when our team was at full strength we were scoring 25-35 goals a game but now we are struggling a lot to score.

I didn't have a good first half and was pulled after 15 min, and 5 goals and the other goalie went in and played about 8 min then they pulled her and put me in for the rest of the half where i had only let in one goal. So i had a better 2nd part of the first half and a decent 2nd half. When looking at the stats i made 15 saves (including a 7m) which isn't great but it's okay.

The most shocking part about the stats was in our offence. The goalie on the other team only made 4 saves in the whole game (meaning we only shot 22 times in 60 min) and we had a total of 27 turnovers… YES 27!!! So thats what killed us the most, we were just handing the ball to the other team for them to come back and shoot the fast break.

I do have some kinda good news, the coach from Toulon took me aside and asked if i wanted his help in finding a new club for next season (in D2 or N1). He knows a lot of coaches and teams and i'm very excited to see what he can find for me. Before he can do that i need to sit down with my coach and president of the club and get "permission" from them to start looking for a new club. I'm not sure if i need it but it's more done out of respect, so that will be done sometime this week.

I'm not sure where i will be next year, i could end up playing for La Crau again, or another club in France, or even end up back in Norway, but i do know that i would like to start looking now so i don't have to stress about it this summer when i'm back in Canada.

Bisous

Kimberley
